For the first time since 2018 we were treated to a Grand Prix de Monaco Historique event in the Principality of Monaco over the weekend. The event sees historic race cars piloted around the tight street course that comprises the circuit, which will host the Formula 1 GP on May 23rd. In celebration of the event, TAG Heuer replica released a Monaco sporting a chic green and dial. Something we’ve been noticing a lot lately. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen green appear on the iconic square watch, and like the others, this will be a limited edition.
The TAG Heuer Monaco replica with green dial (the person who comes up with names must have been out that day) features a rich emerald green dial with black inset square sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock. A running second hand resides at 6 o’clock over the green of the dial, save for the date window at its base.
The green here is decadent in appearance, fading from light at the center to dark at the edges with a sunburst texture to catch more light.
The steel case is still 39mm and receives TAG Heuer’s own integrated chronograph calibre Heuer 02 automatic with column wheel (finished in green) design. It’s a serious bit of kit, particularly in considering the sub $7k price range of this LE. Given the nature of the event this watch is meant to celebrate, this 39 mm fake TAG Heuer Monaco is surprisingly modern, eschewing even the throwback “Heuer” label in favor of the full TAG Heuer shield.
In fact, there is no labeling on the watch that ties it to the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique event at all, even along the caseback and oscillating weight where you’d usually find such things. A curious decision given the racing connection enjoyed the Monaco, something cheap copy TAG Heuer isn’t shy about leaning into.
TAG Heuer will produce just 500 examples of the Monaco Green Dial, priced at $6,650.
